Social Welfare
The Social Welfare Minor work will give you an understanding of the important role social programs, policies, and systems play in social services.You’ll explore how components of race and ethnicity impact social welfare at the individual, community, national and international levels. You’ll also learn basic advocacy skills that will allow you to draw attention to issues of social policy and welfare in communities.
Minor Objectives
- Gain a broad understanding of social work and social services
- Understand the specific impacts of race and ethnicity and other aspects of diversity on social welfare at all levels of society
- Recognize the impact of social policies and government programs on the scope of and provision of social services
