World University of Bangladesh Concludes Business Idea Competition 2026 with Grand Award Ceremony
World
University of Bangladesh (WUB) successfully concluded the Business Idea Competition 2026 –
Innovation for Sustainable Growth
with a grand Award Ceremony and Closing Session held at the Founding Treasurer
Morsheda Choudhury Auditorium on July
15, 2026. The
event brought together more than 126
participants and guests,
including academicians, industry leaders, judges, mentors, faculty members,
students, and organizers to celebrate innovation, entrepreneurship, and
sustainable business solutions.
The
ceremony began with a welcome address by Professor Zaki Imam, Registrar, World University of Bangladesh. The Guest of Honor, Md. Nazrul Islam Sarker, Additional Managing Director of
Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, emphasized the importance of innovation-driven
entrepreneurship in strengthening Bangladesh's economy and encouraged students
to transform their ideas into impactful ventures. Special Guests, Professor Dr. Md. Mamun Habib, Head of the Department of General
Management, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), and Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmed, Professor, Department of
Marketing, University of Dhaka, highlighted the importance of innovation,
sustainability, and stronger industry-academia collaboration.
Speaking
on behalf of the Core Committee, Professor
Dr. AQM Shafiul Azam,
Dean of Academic Affairs and Research, praised the participants and organizing
team for successfully hosting the university's flagship entrepreneurship
competition. Representing the Advisory Committee, Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Honorable Pro Vice-Chancellor,
commended the initiative for promoting entrepreneurial thinking and sustainable
innovation among students.
The
Chief Guest, Honorable Vice-Chairman, Board of
Trustees, World University of Bangladesh, reaffirmed the University's
commitment to nurturing innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement,
emphasizing that such initiatives prepare students to become future
entrepreneurs and responsible leaders.
During
the ceremony, crests and certificates were presented to the external and
internal judges, special guests, and organizing committee members in
recognition of their valuable contributions.
Among
the winners, Team
‘AmarDoctor’
from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering emerged as the Champion. Team ‘Green Genesis’ (Department of Textile Engineering)
became the 1st
Runner-Up,
while Team
‘Pharmagoal’
(Department of Pharmacy) secured the 2nd Runner-Up.
The Best Innovative Idea
Award went to Team ‘EcoPulp BD’ (Department of Textile
Engineering), and the Best
Social Impact Idea Award
was presented to Team
‘CareCatalyst’
(Department of Business Administration).
In
his closing remarks, Professor
Dr. Selim Ahmed,
Dean, Faculty of Business Studies and Convener of the competition, thanked the
Advisory Committee, organizing committee, judges, mentors, faculty members,
volunteers, sponsors, and participants for making the event a remarkable
success. He encouraged students to continue transforming innovative ideas into
sustainable ventures that create positive social and economic impact.
The
program concluded with a group photograph of the distinguished guests, judges,
organizers, volunteers, and winning teams, marking the successful conclusion of
the Business Idea
Competition 2026 – Innovation for Sustainable Growth and reaffirming WUB's commitment to
fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development.
