Seminar on “Digital Skills for Career Success in the Age of AI”

The Department of Business Administration at the World University of Bangladesh organized a seminar titled “Digital Skills for Career Success in the Age of AI” on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the Founding Treasurer Morsheda Choudhury Auditorium.

Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam, Honourable Pro Vice-Chancellor of the World University of Bangladesh (WUB), attended the seminar as the Chief Guest. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Ashraful Haque, General Manager of Akij Ceramics, Akij Bashir Group.

The program commenced with a welcome speech by Mr. Abdullah Mohammad Sharif, Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration, followed by the anchoring of the session by Ms. Sakila Sultana, Lecturer in the same department.

In his address, Professor Dr. M. Nurul Islam highlighted that such seminars provide students with valuable opportunities to gain awareness of emerging trends, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), which is reshaping multiple aspects of daily life and professional practice.

During his keynote speech, Mr. Ashraful Haque emphasized the necessity of adapting to technological advancements. He stressed that innovations, including AI, should not be perceived as threats but rather as tools to enhance human productivity. He noted that students can benefit from AI-based applications for customized assistance, content generation, and freelance opportunities. He further underscored the importance of adopting digital and AI-driven tools to remain competitive and sustainable in career development.

Mr. Haque also explained that in times of disruption, technological and digital tools can provide sustainable solutions. He advised students to cultivate critical thinking skills, supported by comprehensive data collection and scientific analysis, to solve complex problems effectively. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of effective communication in building professional networks, recommending the use of digital platforms such as email, WhatsApp, and AI-enabled applications. Finally, he encouraged students to maintain a creative mindset in order to adapt to and transform digital tools, thereby ensuring continuous career growth.

The seminar concluded with closing remarks from Professor Dr. Selim Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Chairperson of the seminar. Dr. Ahmed expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders involved in organizing the event. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and adaptability to ensure quality and sustainability in an increasingly competitive environment. He advised students to prepare themselves by actively engaging with evolving digital tools, underscoring that technological adoption is essential for developing expertise and maintaining professional relevance.
